AOC Asia Symposium 2026 and ADSTAR 2026 brought together defence, government, industry, and academic leaders from across the Indo-Pacific for what was an excellent few days in Adelaide. As the flagship Asia regional symposium of the Association of Old Crows, AOC Asia is one of the most significant forums in the region for exploring current and emerging challenges in electronic warfare, electromagnetic spectrum operations, and related capability domains. For SouthTech Systems, it was one of the most productive event appearances we have had, with strong turnout, several new connections made, and genuinely valuable conversations both on and off the exhibition floor.
The CHARIOT Training Kit
A centrepiece of the STS stand was the CHARIOT training kit, showcasing an integrated suite of fielded EW and spectrum operations equipment that underpins our training capability.
The kit featured the Sceptre software defined receiver, paired with the EM Antennas EM-6725 ultra-wideband omnidirectional antenna and the Signal Hound SP145 real-time spectrum analyser. Together, these three components form a capable, deployable package for EW and EMSO training in realistic signal environments.
The EM-6725 is a small form factor, MIL-STD-810H rated antenna covering 150 MHz to 18 GHz with omnidirectional coverage, low VSWR, and consistent gain across its full frequency range. Its detachable magnetic mount allows rapid deployment on vehicles or with a standard tripod. The Signal Hound SP145 complements it as a portable 14.5 GHz real-time spectrum analyser, covering 100 kHz to 14.5 GHz with 200 GHz per second sweep speed, 40 MHz streaming bandwidth, and an internal GPS for field spectrum monitoring and RF survey work. USB-C powered and compact at under 0.5 kg, the SP145 brings genuine lab-grade analysis capability into a field-deployable package.
Showcasing this kit at AOC Asia gave us the opportunity to demonstrate what practical, integrated EW and EMSO training looks like when built around fielded equipment rather than simulated environments. It is the kind of hands-on capability development that the spectrum operations community increasingly demands.
Collaboration with Per Vices
Alongside the CHARIOT kit, STS collaborated with Per Vices Corporation to showcase the Crimson TNG Software Defined Radio platform. In the EW and EMSO context, the Crimson TNG is a highly flexible COTS SDR with four independent receive and four independent transmit channels, each with 325 MHz of instantaneous bandwidth and 16-bit converter resolution. The tuning range spans near DC to 6 GHz, with dual 10GBASE-R interfaces providing up to 20 Gbps of data throughput and an Intel Arria V SoC FPGA enabling advanced on-board DSP.

For organisations operating in electronic warfare, spectrum monitoring, and signal intelligence environments, the Crimson TNG offers the kind of wideband, multi-channel flexibility that modern EW and EMSO operations require. The collaboration with Per Vices reflects the capability partnerships STS continues to develop in support of Australian and regional spectrum operations.

Why Events Like AOC Asia Matter
Forums like AOC Asia and ADSTAR are where the conversations that shape EW and EMSO capability development happen. The formal sessions surface emerging challenges across the electronic warfare and electromagnetic spectrum domain, and the exhibition floor creates the conditions for the informal engagement with partners and operators that is often just as valuable.
For STS, being present and visible in these environments is not optional. The turnout and quality of engagement at this year's event reinforced that. We came away with new connections, strengthened existing relationships, and a clearer picture of where Australian and regional EW and EMSO capability is heading.
