For organisations operating in range and engineering lab environments, end-to-end telemetry data processing requires hardware that can handle complex PCM formats in real time, simulate mission data reliably, and integrate cleanly into existing infrastructure. STS partner Acromatics delivers this through the Model 1632AP decom card and the Model 2900AP Telemetry Data Processing system.

The Model 1632AP is a 40 Mbps PCIe dual stream telemetry decom and data distribution processing module, and the hub of Acroamatics' fourth generation TDP product family. It supports up to four program-selectable decom inputs and handles bit rates from 0 to 50+ Mbps across burst, jam, and streaming modes. Frame synchronisation is fully programmable with support for sync pattern and mask, complement pattern recognition, variable length frame decommutation, and six independent subframe synchronisers capable of decommutating sub-frames within sub-frames.

Format switching is lossless and immediate, with 16 testable flags controlling real-time switching between multiple card-resident micro-coded decom programs. Output data is available to the host via memory-mapped frame buffers, Current Value Table, or PCI bus DMA, and two RS-422 serial PCM output channels are also available.

The card is OS independent, supports both networked and PC-hosted environments, and is compatible across Acroamatics' enterprise and portable TDP system products.

The 2900AP builds on the 1632AP architecture into a complete rack-mounted telemetry data processing system, accommodating between one and sixteen PCM input streams. Each stream is independently configurable, supporting lossless PCM format switching, conditional async embedded frame decommutation, CCSDS packet protocol processing, and merged low-latency EU and derived processing via a SHARC DSP processor. Data rates exceed 50 Mbps with decom processing speeds 50 percent faster than previous generations and EU and derived processing rates three times faster.

IRIG 106 standards supported include Ch 4 Class 1 and 2, Ch 8, Ch 10, Ch 9, TMATS, CVSD, and CCSDS TMoIP. COTS interfaces include IADS, ILLIAD, DEWESoft, LabVIEW, and MatLab.

PCM Simulation

Both the 1632AP and 2900AP include a dedicated card-embedded PCM simulator. The 1632AP simulator supports bit rates from 1 bps to 64 Mbps with two complete selectable PCM formats, up to three subframes within mainframe, and frame lengths up to 65,536 words. Data sources include static and dynamic word registers, counters, external inputs, a pseudo-random number generator, and a program counter. Output codes support NRZ-L/M/S, Biø-L/M/S, DBiø-M/S, DM-M/S, MDM-M/S, and RNRZ formats.

The simulator operates in Encoded Data Mode for straight-binary serialisation or Program Mode for fully customised PCM format simulation running directly on the card, with support for command line, GUI, and C-based API. It also supports PCM clock and data output from networked IRIG 218-10/-20 or Chapter 10/11 UDP streaming input sources.
