Initially Avalon standardised on the S-VHS helical scan technology throughout its product range and has consistently led the field in the development of S-VHS recorders for data capture and analysis applications. In1997 Avalon introduced a range of analog and digital recorders based on linear DLT format. In 2000 Avalon introduced disk array recorders with bandwidths of up to 50MHz and data throughputs in excess of 1 Gigabits /sec.

AE8000-series Wideband SIGINT Data Recorders
Avalon’s third-generation AE8000-series Wideband SIGINT Data Recorders offer unrivalled signal quality, reliability and convenience for a wide range of SIGINT, ASW and telemetry applications. Building on the company’s acknowledged leadership in the application of hard-disk technology to high performance SIGINT data capture and storage, Avalon AE8000 disk recorders offer specifications and operating features that were impossible to implement in traditional tape recorders.
For example, many AE8000 variants offer a true Read-after-Write capability whereby previously recorded data can be replayed without interrupting the recording process. Similarly, the LOOP recording feature permits extended mission recording while passages of interest may be tagged for transcription to the optional on-board AIT-3 tape streamer. Other recent enhancements to the AE8000 family include comprehensive recorder control via an Ethernet 10/100 port and simple digital data extraction directly from the AE8000’s disk crate to a workstation or computer network via the recorder’s 80 MB/s SCSI port.
AE3000FL S-VHS Cassette Data Recorders
AE3000FL is a family of 8, 12 and 18 MHz S-VHS analog recorder/reproducers designed specifically to satisfy the needs of critical SIGINT, ELINT, ASW and telemetry applications. There are single and multi-channel variants within each bandwidth range. Other input configurations can be specified as custom options. Some models can be switched between single and multi-channel operation for pre- and post-detection recording from FM, linear and logarithmic receivers. Analog data can be reproduced in both analog and 8-bit digital formats.
Avalon recorders are noted for their excellent reliability, even under the most testing field conditions. Each system is totally self-contained with power supply and a full record/reproduce capability - plus all necessary channel multiplexing/demultiplexing, if applicable.
